Off-Campus Access

Descriptions of how to access Franco Library databases when off-campus.

Creating Separate Logins

For a few databases, you will need to create a separate login from your Alvernia login/credentials. Instructions for how to create these accounts are detailed below.

List of Applicable Databases

The following databases require separate account creation to access.

Chronicle of Higher Education

If you are on campus:
Go to Chronicle.com for access. You will see the message "Site License Provided by Alvernia University" in the upper left of Chronicle web pages.

If you are accessing remotely:
Go to Chronicle.com and Sign In to your account, if you already have one, for access. If you do not already have an account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Chronicle.com and click on the “Sign In” link at top, right-hand side of the page.

  2. Select the “Sign Up” tab to create a free account using your alvernia.edu email address.

  3. Activate your account by confirming your email address in the “The Chronicle: Confirm your email address” email.

RefWorks

Login to Your RefWorks Account at the link below and click on the "Sign Up for a New Account" link. You must use your @alvernia.edu email address to create your account.

You will be able to access RefWorks from on or off-campus by using the Login Name and Password you created.

Off-Campus Account Creation

You may be asked for a group code, though you should not need to provide one as long as you use your @alvernia.edu email to create your account. If you must obtain the group code, please contact a librarian.
