Nursing Informatics: Introduction

What Is Nursing Informatics?

McGonigle and Mastrian (2018) define Nursing Informatics as "a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice" (p. 7). Nursing informatics is a subset of Healthcare Informatics defined by Saba and McCormick (2015) as "the integration of health-care sciences, computer science, information science, and cognitive science to assist in the management of healthcare information” (p. 232).
