Series Dates: 1967-2010
Extent: .25 linear inches

Scope and Content Note:
In philately, a cover is a specially designed envelope produced to commemorate a stamp’s first day of issue (First Day Cover) or some other special event (Event Day Cover). The design printed on the stamp is called a cachet.
An avid stamp collector himself, David Silcox designed cachets to commemorate events or places related to John Updike’s area connections and had them cancelled, sometimes with specially designed cancellation stamps, by a local post office.
