John Updike maintained ties to his hometown throughout his life. His mother, followed by Thelma Lewis and then David Silcox, would keep him up to date by sending him batches of newspaper clippings and other items regarding people and places he knew. The area also played important roles in many of his writings. This series contains several historical items related to places familiar to him.
