Course Reserve Contacts

Books, photocopies, DVDs, and other miscellaneous items can be placed on course reserve in the Library. Items can be selected from Alvernia's Library collection or your personal collection. Reserve items can be dropped off at the Library's Circulation Desk along with a completed course reserves form Monday - Thursday. The form is available at the main desk of the library or can be submitted online. Visit the Library Services page for additional information. If you have any questions please contact Kathleen Gardocki at kathleen.gardocki@alvernia.edu.

Faculty teaching at Reading College Towne, Schuylkill, and Philadelphia Centers: If you have a book you would like on reserve at your campus, but you do not have an arrangement worked out with the campus directors, the library can help you plan for on-site course reserves. Please email christina.steffy@alvernia.edu for assistance with course reserves outside of the Franco library.

Faculty are encouraged to use electronic/digital materials. The librarians have compiled a Open Educational Resources (OER) LibGuide to help faculty find freely available course materials that students can access from anywhere at any time. For questions about OER, please contact Jasmine Smith at jasmine.smith@alvernia.edu

Instructions for Faculty

Course Reserves

Books, photocopies, and DVDs to be placed on reserve should be dropped off at the library's Circulation Desk Monday through Thursday.  Faculty should complete a Reserve Materials Form for each item.  These forms are available online or at the Circulation Desk.

In addition to instructor, course number, and course name, the form includes space for the title of the reserve book or photocopy. This title should correspond to the title used in the course syllabus or assignment. This will aid the students in locating the correct reading.

Talk to us if you would like to place a reserve copy of an item at the Philadelphia or Schuylkill center. We can make arrangements to catalog and then locate the item on site.

Please allow 48 hours for the reserves to be processed.

Instructors should retrieve their reserve materials by the end of the semester. The library staff will be able to inform the instructor the number of times an item has circulated; however, no information regarding the identity of students who checked-out the material will be available.

Faculty using Blackboard can post a list of articles that are available electronically by creating durable links. See How to Create a Link to an EBSCO or ProQuest Article for instructions.  Contact the Library Director for copyright questions and concerns.
