Look for These Common Errors When Using Automatic Citation Generation Tools
- Uppercase is used in article titles. Except for the first word, the first word following a colon, and proper nouns, all words in article titles should be lowercase.
- The volume number of the journal should also be italicized.
- Extraneous information is included (e.g. Cover Story). Delete this information.
- A DOI is not included. If no DOI is listed, use CrossRef free DOI lookup to see if the article is assigned a DOI. If no DOI is assigned list the publisher url.
